Welcome to FoodThoughts.
FoodThoughts is a private, invite-only app designed for small groups of friends to share restaurant reviews, save places they like, and organise meals together.
These Terms and Conditions explain the rules for accessing and using FoodThoughts.
By creating an account, accepting an invite, accessing, or using FoodThoughts, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.
If you do not agree to these Terms and Conditions, you should not use FoodThoughts.
About FoodThoughts
FoodThoughts is provided as a private, non-commercial service.
The app is intended to help invited users:
Share restaurant reviews and ratings.
Save favourite places.
Suggest venues.
Organise hangouts and food plans with friends.
Keep track of places they want to try again.
FoodThoughts is not a booking platform, delivery service, restaurant operator, food safety service, or professional recommendation service.
Eligibility and Accounts
Access to FoodThoughts is by invitation only.
Users must provide accurate, complete, and current registration information.
Users are responsible for keeping their login details secure and confidential.
Users are responsible for all activity carried out through their account.
Users must update their account details if their email address or other important information changes.
Users must not share their account with anyone else.
Invite links must not be misused, sold, published publicly, or used to create accounts for people who were not intended to receive access.
FoodThoughts is not aimed at children. It should not be used by children below the minimum age at which they may lawfully use an online service or consent to personal data processing in their country of residence.
FoodThoughts may suspend, restrict, or remove access where account information is inaccurate, where security concerns arise, or where these Terms and Conditions are breached.
Acceptable Use
Users must use FoodThoughts lawfully, respectfully, and in good faith.
Users must not:
Post, upload, or share content that is unlawful, defamatory, abusive, hateful, discriminatory, threatening, harassing, or otherwise harmful.
Post fake, misleading, dishonest, or manipulated reviews, ratings, recommendations, photos, or venue information.
Impersonate another person or misrepresent a connection with any person, business, venue, or organisation.
Upload photos, text, or other content without having the necessary rights or permission to do so.
Upload private, sensitive, or unnecessary personal information about themselves or another person.
Attempt to access another user’s account, private information, groups, hangouts, or non-public parts of the service.
Interfere with, disrupt, overload, probe, scan, reverse engineer, or misuse the service or its supporting infrastructure, except where such restriction is not permitted by applicable law.
Use the app to send spam, unwanted invitations, malicious code, fraudulent content, or abusive messages.
Scrape, copy, extract, or reuse app content or data in bulk without permission.
Use FoodThoughts for commercial promotion, advertising, or restaurant marketing unless this has been agreed in advance.
FoodThoughts may remove content, restrict features, suspend accounts, or terminate access where these rules are breached or where misuse is reasonably suspected.
Reviews, Ratings, and Recommendations
Reviews and ratings should reflect genuine personal opinions and real experiences.
Users are responsible for what they post.
FoodThoughts does not verify every review, rating, photo, tag, favourite, or recommendation.
Reviews and ratings are personal opinions, not professional advice.
Restaurant quality, service, menus, prices, opening hours, availability, and food standards can change over time. Users should check important details directly with the venue before relying on them.
Users should not rely on FoodThoughts for allergy, dietary, food safety, medical, or health-related decisions. If something matters for health or safety, users should confirm it directly with the restaurant.
User Content
Users retain ownership of the reviews, ratings, photos, tags, comments, favourites, venue suggestions, and other content they submit to FoodThoughts.
By submitting content, users give FoodThoughts a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, resize, compress, adapt as technically necessary, display, back up, and make that content available within the app.
This licence is limited to what is needed to operate, maintain, protect, improve, and provide FoodThoughts to its users.
Users confirm that they have the right to submit any content they upload or post.
This licence ends within a reasonable period after the relevant content or account is deleted, except where content remains temporarily in backups or where limited retention is needed for legal, security, technical, or evidential reasons.
FoodThoughts may hide, remove, or restrict content where needed for safety, privacy, moderation, security, or legal reasons.
Photos and Uploaded Images
Users may upload photos as part of reviews or restaurant content.
Users should only upload photos they are comfortable sharing with other members of the app.
Users must not upload images that breach another person’s privacy, show someone in an inappropriate or harmful way, or include content they do not have permission to share.
FoodThoughts may process uploaded images to resize, compress, convert, or optimise them for display in the app.
FoodThoughts may remove or hide uploaded images if they are inappropriate, reported, unlawful, privacy-invasive, or otherwise unsuitable for the app.
Groups, Hangouts, and Invites
FoodThoughts includes group and hangout features to help users organise meals and social plans.
Users should only invite people they know and trust.
Group membership, hangout participation, availability selections, RSVPs, venue choices, and related planning activity may be visible to relevant group or hangout members.
Users must not use group or hangout features to harass, pressure, spam, or mislead others.
FoodThoughts may restrict group or invite features if they are misused.
Service Emails and Notifications
FoodThoughts may send essential service communications, such as:
Account invites.
Password resets.
Hangout invites.
Hangout reminders.
Review requests.
Account and security messages.
FoodThoughts may also send optional notifications or digest emails where users have enabled them.
Users can manage optional communications where the app provides settings for this.
Some service emails are necessary for the app to function and may not be fully disabled while the account remains active.
Third-Party Services and Information
FoodThoughts may rely on third-party services to operate the app.
These may include services for:
Transactional email delivery.
Security and traffic routing.
Venue information and enrichment.
Hosting, storage, backups, or technical infrastructure.
FoodThoughts may also display or use venue information from third-party providers, such as Google Places.
Venue details, including names, addresses, phone numbers, opening hours, ratings, photos, business status, or other information, may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date.
Users should independently verify important venue information before relying on it.
FoodThoughts is not responsible for the content, availability, accuracy, or reliability of third-party services or third-party information.
Privacy
FoodThoughts handles personal data in accordance with its Privacy Policy.
The Privacy Policy explains what personal data is collected, how it is used, who can see it, how long it is kept, and what rights users have.
By using FoodThoughts, users acknowledge that their personal data will be handled as explained in the Privacy Policy.
Service Availability
FoodThoughts is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
As a private hobby project, FoodThoughts may be unavailable from time to time.
Features, pages, tools, settings, integrations, and parts of the service may be changed, suspended, withdrawn, or discontinued at any time.
FoodThoughts does not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or continuously available.
FoodThoughts does not guarantee that any particular feature will remain available permanently.
Backups and Data Loss
FoodThoughts may keep backups for security and recovery purposes.
Although reasonable care is taken, FoodThoughts does not guarantee that user content or account data will never be lost, corrupted, deleted, or unavailable.
Users should not treat FoodThoughts as the only place where important information is stored.
Suspension, Termination, and Account Deletion
Users may stop using FoodThoughts at any time.
Users may request deletion of their account and personal data in accordance with the Privacy Policy.
FoodThoughts may suspend, restrict, or terminate access immediately where:
These Terms and Conditions are breached.
Misuse, abuse, fraud, harassment, or security risk is suspected.
Continued access could harm the service, other users, venues, third parties, or the app owner.
The account appears inactive, abandoned, or compromised.
The service is discontinued in whole or in part.
Termination or suspension does not affect any rights or obligations that arose before access ended.
Some shared group or hangout history may remain in limited form after account deletion where needed so that other users’ records still make sense, but the user’s personal identity will be removed or anonymised where reasonably possible.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, FoodThoughts and its operator are not liable for:
Losses caused by service downtime, errors, bugs, data loss, or unavailable features.
Losses caused by reliance on venue information, reviews, ratings, recommendations, or third-party information.
Issues arising from restaurant bookings, meals, food quality, allergies, dietary requirements, prices, opening hours, service, or venue experiences.
Content posted by users.
Unauthorised access caused by a user failing to keep their login details secure.
Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is not permitted under applicable law.
Changes to FoodThoughts
FoodThoughts may be updated, changed, redesigned, expanded, reduced, or discontinued at any time.
This includes changes to features, design, access rules, invite flows, notifications, reviews, groups, hangouts, venue data, and any other part of the app.
Where major changes affect users in a meaningful way, FoodThoughts may notify users inside the app or by email where appropriate.
Changes to These Terms
These Terms and Conditions may be updated from time to time.
If changes are made, the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will be revised.
Where changes are material, users may be notified inside the app or by email where appropriate.
Continued use of FoodThoughts after updated Terms and Conditions take effect means the updated version is accepted.
If a user does not agree with the updated Terms and Conditions, they should stop using FoodThoughts.
Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Cyprus, unless mandatory laws in the user’s country of residence require otherwise.
Any dispute relating to these Terms and Conditions or use of FoodThoughts will be subject to the competent courts of Cyprus, subject to any mandatory rights granted under applicable law.

I’d use this version over the original. It still sounds suitable for a private friends app, but it protects you better around the risky bits: photos, venue accuracy, allergies, invite misuse, deleted accounts, and the fact that this is not some guaranteed commercial SaaS.
